Abstract

The rapid adoption of electric vehicles (EVs) necessitates the development of efficient and reliable communication frameworks between EVs and charging infrastructure. This paper presents a novel approach for establishing a communication link between electric vehicles and nearby charging stations using the NodeMCU ESP-NOW protocol. ESP-NOW provides a low-power, short-range communication protocol, peer-to-peer data transfer between devices without the need for Wi-Fi infrastructure, ideal for real-time data exchange that relies on no external networks. In the proposed system, both the EV and the charging station are equipped with NodeMCU modules, enabling direct and secure communication. The implementation facilitates real-time status updates, authentication, and control commands, thereby enhancing the user experience and system reliability. The lightweight nature of ESP-NOW ensures minimal latency and power consumption, making it suitable for embedded EV charging systems.
